The Peddler’s Marketplace is a consignment shop that has been in business for over three years in the small downtown area of Monticello, Florida (a rural community). We have generated and given back approximately $30,000 or more per year in income to our local community by selling gently used merchandise on consignment from over fifty local and surrounding small area vendors. We sell to many local disabled and elderly customers who cannot drive out of town due to illness, disability, care taking, high gas prices or lack of a vehicle. These customers come into town to purchase everyday gently used items that we offer in our store. The green aspect of our company is the recycling of gently used items that do not end up in our landfills as well as the void that we fill for low income families that cannot afford to purchase brand new items. We recycle and give new life and meaning to everything of use from a kitchen to a bedroom to a living room as well as children’s books including outdoor gardening items such as benches and garden furniture.
