Ever since I was a young girl, I have always wanted to help others. I was never exactly sure of how I would accomplish this, but I knew it had to be done. First, I wanted to be a teacher, helping others to learn and navigate through their educational journey. I felt that this career could help me to fulfill my passion, but I soon realized I was not the best at explaining certain concepts to others even though I was still young. This led me to reconsider what I wanted to do. During the summer before my sixth grade year, my parents signed me up for a summer program at the Springer Theatre Academy, and I found that I had a passion for acting. I immediately thought that being an actress could be the perfect pathway for me. It would not be easy, but I could help to bring entertainment to others. Additionally, there are many who were very successful actors and actresses, which motivated me. Due to my new career aspiration, I felt that a theatre class would be perfect, so I made sure to request it on my school schedule for the upcoming school year. One of the requirements of the class was to participate in the annual play either in the crew or the cast. I knew I really wanted to be in the cast, so I signed up expeditiously. After my audition, I felt pretty good, but I was not the happiest with my results. I was hoping for a larger role, and I was only on stage for one selection. I felt so discouraged and began to think that I should be doing better than I was. The minor role led me to a major discovery: acting was not for me. I knew that there would be times that I would not be satisfied, but I did not like the way I began to doubt myself and my abilities. I did not want to feel worse when this happened again, so I went back to the drawing board. The medical field always intrigued me, but I did not think I wanted to go to medical school. I love to learn, but I did not want to have to go to school for so many years and go into so much debt. One day, my mom told me about Nursing. Then, I decided to look into it just to see what it was about, and I never truly realized how many different careers you can pursue in Nursing. You could go to school for a short or long time and work in so many different areas. I was instantly intrigued and began to search more. Since the beginning of high school, I have wanted to be a Nurse Practitioner, and I am so excited to finish at the University of Georgia and proceed to Nursing School, so I can continue to help people everyday like I have always wanted to.
