Theresa Deussen
Consultant, Writer, and Researcher in Portland, OR
I help educators, policymakers, and researchers collect and analyze data, or tell meaningful stories from the data they have. I review educational research and summarize key findings for stakeholders. I have worked on a wide range of education topics, most often policies and programs for English learners, reading instruction and interventions, teacher professional learning, and principal leadership. After 16 years at Education Northwest--including five years as co-Director of Research and Evaluation, I created my own small consulting business, Informed Decisions Research.
Outside of work: I am a volunteer yoga teacher for women in treatment centers and prison. I also care about arts, autism, books, disability rights, dogs, film, gardening, Portland, and international travel. 2 sons and an infinitely patient husband.
