Hello there!

My name is Therese Sevilla and I am currently a student at Ryerson University, surrounded by the hustle and bustle downtown Toronto has to offer. I am majoring in Sports Media and minoring in Marketing and Communication Design where I am learning extensively about the field I hope I can take part in one day.

Throughout my high school education, I was heavily involved in making digital content such as infographics, promotional signs, and icon illustrations which allowed me to develop and improve as an artist. As I took on the role of Graphic Designer and Layout Artist for New Wave Magazine and CURTAS (Course Union for RTA Students) at Ryerson, I also gained experience working within a team setting, handling stress, and meeting strict deadlines.

As an aspiring graphic designer, I find expressing myself through my artwork not only one of my hobbies but hopefully something I can do in the future. Whether it would be content creation or digital marketing, I enjoy being involved in any media aspect. My other interests include travelling to places I have never been before, being involved with sports, and photography.

My passion for photography is not like any other. I am a self-proclaimed memory hoarder. One of my life mottos is: “Pics or it didn’t happen”. I believe capturing the memorable moments in life allows us to treasure those moments even more as we can look back at it. Because let’s be honest, one day we’re going to forget all of these little events in our lives that shaped us to who we are now. The people, the places, the remembrance of it all. I think that’s why I want to go into this field. I want to not only tell a part of my story but tell the stories of others.

So one piece of advice is to never be afraid to seize your moment. At the end of all this, how would you like to be remembered? Definitely not by missing an opportunity just because of fear. Get out there, make memories, and never take anything for granted. And as Lin-Manuel Miranda sings:

"What is a legacy? It's planting seeds in a garden you never get to see."
