The Skull Kids
Exeter, Devon
Waltzing a fine line between carnival cabaret, whimsical psychedelia and alternative rock, The Skull Kids perform a spectacle showcase of original material, drawing on influences from rock, literature and film - from syd barrett's pink floyd and sergeant pepper's lonely hearts club to jefferson airplane, queens of the stone age, grimm's fairy tales and tim burton.
Primarily a four-piece, The Skull Kids occasionally play as a duo or with additional troubadour players. their songs are populated by a cast of gothic fairy tale characters, such as pierrot the clown, rapunzel, and the dead poet. their tragi-comic vignettes incorporate an array of percussive and theatrical noises, including theremin, vibraslap, siren-whistle and clockwork toys.
2013 shows included the phonicon festival, exeter zombie ball, the mysterious freakshow's steampunk extravaganza, exeter phoenix new year's circus spectacular, and a number of prominent supports, including newton faulkner, disraeli and cosmo jarvis.
