Chuck Bennett
Detroit, Michigan, United States
Chuck Bennett is Michigan’s “Style Guru.” As a Detroit News journalist, Chuck covers the society scene in Metro Detroit and pens “Society Confidential,” a popular, must-read gossip column. Also Chuck created The Social D website www.thesociald.com. In fact, Chuck is the only African American male in America working as a society columnist. In this capacity, he attends a minimum of 3-4 exclusive charity galas every week. He is also a highly sought-after master of ceremonies, and when a new restaurant or club opens anywhere in the area, Chuck’s name and The Social D is at the very top of the guest list.
Why, you might ask, would DKWIO seek out a society columnist and style writer for The Social D to be on its board?
The reason is that Chuck has his fingers on the pulse of the Motor City. He knows what makes this town run. The Social D shows Detroit through the Eyes of Chuck Bennett. He knows who makes what decisions … when … and why. In other words, there is probably no one better equipped to carry the DKWIO banner in Metro Detroit than Chuck.
Says Danialle: “If you need a door opened anywhere in Detroit, there’s no one who can get it opened faster than Chuck Bennett. He’s a miracle worker.”
Chuck freely admits that he uses his position as a springboard to make things happen in the city he loves so deeply. He has helped raise millions of dollars for a wide range of charities, including The Boys & Girls Clubs, the Yatooma Foundation for Kids, and his pet project, The Horatio Williams Foundation, for which he has helped facilitate hundreds of college scholarships for at-risk young people.
Although these activities keep Chuck busy along with The Social D, he says he accepted Danialle’s invitation to join the board because, “I love Danialle. I love her organization. I love what DKWIO has accomplished thus far, and I want to help her and her team take this organization to the next level to reach more kids and change more lives!”
Chuck is the just sort of caring, committed, get-it-done person DKWIO was seeking to spearhead the efforts of its board. Read more about Chuck Bennett at The Social D. www.thesociald.com
