thesophiastandard blog is about the desire to 'Have it All' - and the realization of it.

You can have a great life in every aspect; family, love, personal happiness, work, spiritual life, friends, sex life, health, and money. These areas operating at an optimum level concurrently & consistently IS possible. I'm uniquely qualified to speak on having it all, because I have it. Yet, was not born into money, fame, beauty, good connections or special talent.

I was born on the wrong side of the tracks in a small New England town, to a lower-than-middleclass family. As a child I was painfully shy, chubby with braces and head gear. In adolescence we lost my Dad to cancer after years of struggle. I wasn't popular in school, hated going and still have no college degree. If you met me today you would guess none of this.

My own mother once poignantly said, "I never would have guessed that you'd turn out to be who you are". Today you'd meet a well-spoken, smiling woman who you might think attractive. I'm self-educated thanks to a voracious appetite for reading. Through a series of promotions I'm enjoying a successful career with a major American corporation. Financially, I've accumulated enough wealth to see at least a couple million by retirement. I'm with the love of my life, a man who loves me more than I thought possible. We've adopted a beautiful baby girl and are having the time of our lives. We travel the world often and enjoy a social life at home with a great group of friends.

These writings are the lessons and reflections on how I got from that - to this. So many people start out like me and haven't progressed any further despite their desires, but there are ways to get here. For me, all good things came together within the past 5 years after a significant decision at my 40th birthday - I raised my standards. The Higher Standard was applied first to my own behavior and expectations. It was also the measurement used to determine what & who to allow into my life.
