Thessa Lageman

I am a Dutch journalist and writer based in Tunis, Tunisia from where I cover North Africa, the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region. I hold a Master in the Arabic language and culture and lived in Egypt, Kuwait and Dubai before.

My articles have been published in a wide range of Dutch and English-language media, such as Al Jazeera English and ANP, the largest news agency in the Netherlands. My areas of focus are migration, dissidents, minorities, gender, human rights, security, the environment and travel. I love to take photos accompagnying my articles as well.
