The Tartan Trouvere
11th - 19th Century
Bonjour tout le monde!
The Tartan Trouvere is not an alter ego or nom de plume, he is me, in everything but the name my parents assigned me. What The Tartan Trouvere mantle succeeds in doing, is to
convey aspects of my essence, something my family name can not do.
At the risk of demystifying myself - I will share that I grew up an only child in a type of traveling circus, where my father was the main attraction. My father gave electrifying performances to the rapt attention of both young and old while my gypsy mothers urge to constantly move, gave flight to adventures that were not without challenges.
I was nurtured in both intellect and conversation by the adult company of showgirls, Shakespearean actors and musicians. The world of my early childhood was a bed of crimson velvet curtains, smoke and mirrors. By my early teens I had traveled to most of the earths great continents and found a self contained emotional life to be my natural disposition.
I found myself a naturally gifted musician from an early age and my hands turned easily to drawing, painting and writing. My most passionate interests are to be found in History and Social Anthropology, after all, what is history without the people who lived it? I am concerned with researching the history of my Huguenot and Scottish ancestors, and having the blood of rebellion on both sides of my family line, a contrary and solitary nature comes naturally.
I'm every bit the lone wolf, but I like to visit the fringes of town and meet the people sometimes too. Extreme complexity of disposition is my calling card, and while seemingly misanthropic, If you meet me at the edge of the woods by chance, you'll find I have a dark heart of gold.
I am a swordsman/fencer, singer/musician, collector/historian and born Renaissance man. I hope you enjoy what I write, I write it for you, and I write from the heart ...
