Tim Franklin

Tim V. Franklin, Ph.D., serves as Vice President and COO for the New Jersey InnovationInstitute (NJII), an NJIT corporation that applies the intellectual and technological resourcesof the state’s science and technology university to challenges identified by industry partners.Franklin contributed substantially to the development of this innovative, industry-facinguniversity interface designed around innovation labs and services.In parallel, Franklin serves as Associate VP for Business and Economic Development and asSpecial Advisor to the President for New Jersey Institute for Technology (NJIT). In this role,Franklin leads strategic initiatives, fosters institutional-scale programs, manages public andprivate partnerships, and articulates programs to advance the University’s economicdevelopment and research missions. Franklin convenes NJIT’s Business Engagement Team,which serves to integrate a range of university programs in deep comprehensive partnershipswith industry and government.Dr. Franklin is an accomplished higher education leader, policy professional, and changeagent. His work demonstrates the strategic skills and aptitudes required to integrate thehighly complex contexts of policy, politics, messaging, external relationships, and internalteam-building. He has provided institution-scale direction for strategic initiatives to advanceresearch, education, and engagement programs, equipment, facilities, & faculty.
