Penn Johnson

Marion, Massachusetts

Penn Johnson is a new age folksinger and storyteller. In January, he recorded his 1st album 'For The Trees,’ produced byMelodeego guitarist and Berklee graduate, Mark Files Schwaller. The album was inspired by Penn’s time living and fighting shale gas extraction (“fracking”) in the shalefields of Northeast Pennsylvania with the grassroots groupEnergy Justice: Shale Initiative, in addition to the threats climate change poses to future generations. Penn's stream-of-consciousness stories and songs focus on love, life, hope, nature, depression, alienation, and social change activism. His musical inspirations includeTodd Snider andTownes Van Zandt.

In the past, Penn has worked with Bill McKibben/350.org and shared the stage with Irish Rock bandThe Mighty Stef. He’s also a proud member ofThe Jellyfish Project, a coalition encouraging awareness among youth about the declining health of our world’s oceans and climate.

At events, Penn has a merchandise table with t-shirts, buttons/pins, free stickers, album artwork, and copies of his new album, For The Trees.

20% of the proceeds from Penn’s performance are donated directly to impacted residents in the shalefields of Northeast Pennsylvania.
