Allain has been in the broadcast industry for more than 20 years. He has worked in Sydney and country New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and for a time in the Heartland of the United States, including Texas, Colorado, Illinois and Nevada.

Allain has also worked as an ENG and freelance camera operator and has had vision broadcast in Australia and internationally including BBC and CBS.
