I don't want to sound like doom and gloom, but I feel some things need to be said. I am a not by choice 50 year old unemployed American. I've been married for over 30 years and a have a daughter and a grandson. My work experience is Computer and software support. I have many transferable skills to fit many jobs. I've worked hard all my life and was told that if you work hard, the rewards will just keep coming. I've just received my bachelor’s degree in management in May of 2011. After almost two years out of work, I’m feeling a little discouraged and feel that I’m not of any value to anyone or any company. I have had several phone interviews and face to face interviews. I feel at times that my age is a factor. I worked very hard at my last employer for over twelve years. I thought I would never lose my job. I was wrong and should of seen this coming. I have about thirty more weeks of unemployment and then I don't know what I’m going to do. I don't think that the people we elected in Washington are listening to our cries for help. Companies are allowed to send American jobs overseas to save a buck. How will our economy grow if this keeps happening? I do understand that we live in a global economy and the idea is to make money while you're in business. What cost are we willing to pay?
