Thomas Johnson
Southampton
Journalism student at Southampton Solent University, I have experience in both broadcast and print news journalism, I also write about my other interests such as music, sport and film.
At the start of 2013 I created my own music blog, having written reviews and articles for other music sites previously. The blog I started is called Sound Of Vinyl and combines a lot of aspects of music journalism from features to live or album reviews. I feature other writers but the majority of the writing is my own.
My love of football and West Ham United has led me to writing for an Unofficial Fanzine called Blowing Bubbles that publishes issues before every home match for West Ham fans. I had previously spent a year writing for a site called We Love You West Ham, which is due to come back over the coming months so keep an eye out.
I have had an internship at the Southern Daily Echo, where I performed various tasks from writing preview pieces from press releases to presenting the 60 second headline bulletins. I also spent two weeks at Uncut music magazine, where I learnt the skill of proof reading and got some brilliant advice about writing reviews from experienced music journalists.
