From 2001 to 2007, Thomas was a member of the Board of Directors of MapInfo Corp, a publicly held global company that develops location intelligence software solutions. Thomas was the Chairman of MapInfo's Corporate Governance Committee, and a member of the audit committee. In late 2007, MapInfo was acquired by Pitney Bowes for $480 million dollars. From 1991 to 2000, Thomas was the founder, Chairman and CEO of Focus Enhancements. Focus was a developer of proprietary video conversion ASIC chip technology that had global distribution and technology alliances with companies such as Intel, Microsoft, Apple Computer, Thompson, Philips, SONY, Nokia, and Zenith. Focus’ products won many industry awards from PC Week, PC World Magazine, MacUser Magazine. Thomas led Focus from its original business plan to a public market cap of over $230 million dollars.From 1986 to 1990, Thomas was the founder, and Chairman of Mass Microsystems. Thomas led this publicly held developer of proprietary multimedia products from business plan to over $75 million dollars in public market cap in just a few short years. Mass Microsystems won many industry awards from PC World Magazine, Computer Currents, MacUser UK, and MacUser Magazine. Thomas has been featured in many publications including The Boston Globe, Boston Business Journal, Boston Herald, Computer Currents, MacWorld, MacWeek, San Jose Mercury News, and the San Jose Business Journal. He speaks at various industry tradeshow panels and Universities.
