Thomas Francis LaBlanc, an enrolled member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate tribe, is a talented artist, poet, and musician who is deeply committed to social justice and environmental protection. His creative works have been translated into 17 languages, and he has released several CDs such as "Loving Water" and "The Dark Is Getting Bright," as well as written three books of prose and poetry. He is one of the founders and frontmen of the Buffalo Weavers, which won the Native American Music Award for Best Duo in 2022.
As a member of the American Indian Movement, Mr. LaBlanc founded Oyate Hotanin, a non-profit organization that supports and amplifies native voices. Alongside fellow artists, he organizes events and conversations to promote healing. Previously, Mr. LaBlanc served as the research and documentation director of the International Indian Treaty Council in San Francisco and as the indigenous coordinator at the World Uranium Hearing in Munich, Germany.
In his free time, Thomas Francis LaBlanc enjoys spending time with his Siberian Husky.
