Thomas Hunter

I am a communications and marketing manager from Salzburg, Austria. I have over ten years of experience in running a corporate communications department for a producer of construction machinery. I have a passion for good communication management and marketing, building and managing brands and creating lasting relationships with stakeholders. I favour an integrated approach to communication management and marketing. All communications and marketing activities should be based on the corporate strategy and goals. Whichever instruments contribute best to achieving these goals and successfully implementing the strategy should be used, regardless of which traditional area of communication they originally belonged to. An avid user of social media, I see them becoming more and more central communication instruments not just for personal use, but for companies and brands in particular. I love good design in all forms as well as good writing and photography. I hold a PhD and an MA in communications from the University of Salzburg, Austria, specialising in public relations and organisational communication. I also studied at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis for one year. I have a very international background. I hold two citizenships (Austria, Great Britain) and have lived on four continents. I love to travel and experience new cultures, sights, sounds and indeed tastes. I love to read. My favourite authors include Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Jasper Fforde, Diana Wynne Jones, Christopher Brookmyre and J.R.R. Tolkien, to name but a few. I love sports, both active and passive (still planning on running that elusive marathon one day!).
