Thom Chu

Thomas K. Chu is an estate planning attorney focusing on the needs on small-to-medium-sized-business owners through integrated planning for life, business, and beyond. He holds a J.D. from Hofstra Law School and a B.A. from Columbia College.

A wholistic transition plan can take into account any number of possibilities and contingencies, including incapacity and disability, backup procedures and strategies in a business setting, taking care of family members and loved ones, and preparing business assets for possible third-party sale, key employee buyout, or transfer to an adult child. Among other commitments, from 2005-2012, Thom also served as president of the board of FaithTrust Institute, the nation's premier mulitfaith organization dedicated to overcoming sexual and domestic violence. An emphasis in his estate planning practice is charitable gift planning whereby clients can benefit both loved ones and causes they love all while gaining valuable tax benefits.
