Thomas Masiya

Harare, Zimbabwe

I am a creative twenty five year old multimedia specialist born into a family of two boys, me and my brother Ed. Since my youth, I have alwayshad a passion for design. Well known is a story my family always remind me of, that in Grade One at Moffat Primary School in Harare...my teacher was doing career guidance and had asked what people wanted to do when they grew up. While many mentioned pilots, doctors, astronaughts, engineers etc, I said that I wanted to be a designer.

Nothing gives me any greater pleasure than to know that I reached self-actualisation at the age of eighteen. As a developing graphic artist, I always try to find an outlet for creativity, whether it be on plain paper or on the computer. I am self-taught in all the disciplines I can use to communicate. Most of my training and industry experience came from various little advertising design studios. I have done a couple of short courses now and then to grade myself and see if I can compete at an international platform. Among the schools that groomed my confidence is City Varsity, AFDA, Vega, NUST, Bulawayo Polytechnic and a Technikon in Benoni, South Africa (forgot the name, kikiki).

I have continued to persue my goals as a graphic artist and have been developing my artistic skills continually. Now, because of my love for business, I have come up with a couple of "firsts" for Zimbabwe. Details soon.
