An accomplished veteran of the United States Army, Thomas Mengesha completed many tours between the years 1983 and 2009. Most recently, he acted as Captain and Deputy Director of the Theater Rest & Recuperation Program during a deployment to Kuwait. Within this capacity in the administration of the over half-billion dollar program, Thomas Mengesha executed strategic planning initiatives, designed monthly airlift allocations, and evaluated and redrafted numerous policies. Additionally, he utilized his communication abilities as the liaison for the Coalition Forces Land Component, speaking on behalf of his division to the US Army Headquarters, the Human Resources Command, and CENTCOM.

A dedicated soldier wielding more than a quarter of a century’s experience defending the United States, Thomas Mengesha has endeavored to share his wisdom with other military personnel by authoring the book, The Service Member’s Guide to Deployment: What Every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, and Marine Should Know. Published in 2009, Thomas Mengesha’s book contains an abundance of valuable information for soldiers to utilize in their duties. Covering topics such as knowing what to expect when initially deployed, arranging home and family finances in anticipation of departure, and finding military programs that assist both soldiers and their families, The Service Member’s Guide to Deployment can serve as a valuable resource for any Armed Forces member.

Outside of his role in the military, Thomas Mengesha was the founder and former lead attorney at The Mengesha Law Firm a private law firm that was located in Detroit, Michigan, and served as an online instructor with American InterContinental University. Thomas Mengesha obtained a comprehensive education, including a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Public Administration from The University of Akron, and a Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
