Military Retirement Strategist | Veterans Benefits Educator | Retired U.S. Army Officer

Thomas Mengesha is a retired U.S. Army officer, former attorney, former college professor, and federal service professional whose career has spanned military leadership, law, education, veterans benefits, and public service.

His military journey began in the enlisted ranks, rising from E-1 to Sergeant before earning a U.S. Army Green to Gold Scholarship and completing his degree at the University of South Carolina. He subsequently received his commission as an Army officer and served in positions of increasing responsibility, including executive-level program oversight supporting military operations in the Iraq theater.

Today, Thomas is the founder of The Adjutant, an educational platform helping service members, veterans, and military families better understand military retirement, veterans benefits, financial strategy, and the decisions that shape life beyond military service.

Drawing upon more than two decades of experience working with VA disability benefits, his military career, legal background, teaching experience, and his own journey through military and federal service, Thomas approaches these subjects from a practical, long-term perspective.

His work is built around a simple idea: military service can create opportunities far beyond a monthly retirement check when its benefits, compensation systems, and financial advantages are understood and used strategically.

Prepare wisely. Build deliberately. Live purposefully.
