In 1985, Thomas M. Rollins became Chief of Staff and Chief Counsel to the United States Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources. He left government work in 1989 to establish The Teaching Company. His company taps the country’s best educators, records their lectures in audio and video, and sells these recordings to the public. Rollins served as CEO and Chairman until he sold most of his interest in 2006. He served as a company director until 2011. The Teaching Company has been described by The New York Times as “a force in continuing education” and by The Wall Street Journal as “the colossus of its field.”
