Thompson Dean (Avista)

Thompson Dean is CEO and Co-Managing Partner of Avista Capital Partners. The firm focuses on portfolio investments and management for companies involved in health care and communications. Through the expertise of individuals who have served as operating executives in their respective industries, Avista is able to develop management teams that create long-term organic asset growth.

Thompson Dean has previous experience as a former managing partner for DLJ Merchant Banking, and has also worked for Goldman Sachs. Mr. Dean serves on the Boards of Acino International AG, Zest Anchors and Trimb Holding AB. He is also a trustee of Choate Rosemary Hall, and has served as chairman of the special projects committee for Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.

Mr. Dean began his college education at the University of Virginia, earning a bachelor of arts in economics and foreign affairs. During his undergraduate studies, he was an Echols Scholar. He then completed his MBA at Harvard Business School, where he graduated with high distinction and was named a Baker Scholar.
