Hello! My name is Mike Thompson and I'm the Elementary Principal at the Harris-Lake Park Community School District.
This is my first year at H-LP and my twenty-third year in education. I started my career as a social studies teacher and coach in the Ventura School District in the late 1990's. Following Ventura I went to Belmond-Klemme as the Elementary Principal for almost ten years, and after B-K, I spent time after coordinating and facilitating school technology.
I enjoy golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling with my family. My wife, Celina, teaches middle school & high school math at Harris-Lake Park and we have a daughter, Quinn.
H-LP is located in northwest Iowa, approximately one hour from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. With the Iowa Great Lakes only minutes away, H-LP is able to offer a small school atmosphere with big city opportunities!
