Phillip Junior Hodge (born May 12, 1984), known professionally as Thuggizzle, is an American hip hop artist, actor, entrepreneur, and community activist. He is the founder of the nonprofit Thuggizzle Cares and creator of Thuggizzle Appalachian Mountain Spring Water, a socially driven beverage brand. Raised in San Antonio, Texas, Hodge gained regional recognition for his freestyle rap abilities and later became known for youth mentorship and literacy programs aimed at underserved communities.
Early Life and Education
Phillip Hodge was born in San Antonio, Texas, and raised alongside three sisters in a household impacted by addiction. He entered the foster care system at the age of nine and aged out without being adopted. He attended Judson High School, later enrolling at Gary Job Corps, where he became a certified nursing assistant. Hodge also studied at St. Philip's College in San Antonio.

Music
Hodge began his music career under the stage name Thuggizzle, derived from a childhood nickname and popularized by the “-izzle” slang style. He is known for freestyling, rapping without writing lyrics, and has built a reputation for improvisational performances. He has performed alongside notable hip hop acts, including Snoop Dogg, who was one of his early musical inspirations.
His discography spans multiple streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. He also maintains a presence on YouTube, where he frequently uploads new freestyles, music videos, and outreach content.
Entrepreneurship
In 2021, Hodge launched Thuggizzle Appalachian Mountain Spring Water, a natural spring water product sold in recyclable aluminum cans. The brand markets itself as a healthier, youth-friendly alternative to sugary beverages, with brightly colored designs intended to appeal to children and young adults. The water is sourced from deep Appalachian springs in Georgia.
In 2024, Hyatt Regency San Antonio River Walk began carrying Thuggizzle Water as part of a program supporting local, minority-owned businesses.[⁶] The product also appears in local convenience stores and nonprofit event sponsorships.
Activism
Thuggizzle Cares
In 2008, Hodge founded Thuggizzle Cares, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves at-risk youth, families, and military veterans. The organization offers mentorship, case management, family stability programs, and literacy initiatives.
