Tia Costello

My name is Tia and I put life back into vintage finds, specializing in furniture restoration. I have been working on pieces for over five years, but just recently decided to turn my hobby into a full time career.

Too many times I walk into a store, spot a great piece (furniture or not), and soon find that the cost is double what it should be. Not only is that disappointing, it is sometimes an unreasonable price for the quality of furniture being sold. At the Vintage Wheel, my goal is to bring you beautiful, quality, revived pieces at an affordable price.

After studying Interior Design, with an emphasis in furniture, I was confused as to what to do for a job after college graduation. I felt the pressure to get in to the corporate scene right away. So, I entered the world of sales. It quickly consumed me, taking over my dream of being an artist, or designer. I enjoyed the fast paced, competitive way of sales, but as expected, those feelings did not last. I always had this creative need inside of me wanting to get out and create. After suppressing these feelings for over 10 years, I finally decided to take some time to reflect on what was important to me in my life and go for it. So, here I am. I feel as if I am finally "at home" with myself and I could not be happier!

Every week I search for great finds, bring them to my garage, and start the transformation. I try to add interesting knobs or pulls to each piece of furniture adding extra charachter and style. I take my time with each piece, mixing the perfect color, shading it correctly, waxing it all while enjoying the happy, yet calming feeling of getting to do what I love! I want everything I work on to stand out and be a great conversation piece in your home. I am excited and thrilled to share my art with you and look forward to making my once hobby a life long career.

What sets me apart?
I love the Shabby Chic look; however, I prefer my pieces to be more CHIC than shabby. Instead of sanding and using tools to distress furniture (which can sometimes damage a piece), I prefer to "age" my furniture with different shading techniques I learned while majoring in Art and Interior Design in college. Therefore, my pieces are better quality and worth the money.
