Tiffanie Bernard

Washington, DC

Tiffanie's "Jill of All Trades" attitude has been instrumental in shaping her professional life. She has held many roles from administrative, to marketing, event planning, etc.

Tiffanie engages herself in exploring design as it relates to both social and cultural issues. With a strong passion for community service and volunteerism, she is always seeking ways to make positive change. Dubbed the “Make it Happen Cap’n” by her collegues, Tiffanie served as the Secretary of the Architecture and Design Student Association and eventually took on the leadership role as the organization’s President. Under that title, Tiffanie, along with her other e-board members, successfully carried out two consecutive Howard University Architecture Week programs which included professional lectures, student charettes, and an Alumni Ball to commemorate the school’s nearly 100 years of excellence.

With a strong interest in education and how children are affected by design, Tiffanie's senior thesis project entitled “Utopia Montessori Educational Campus” investigated the principles and practices of a nontraditional, yet modular, educational practice demonstrated and supported through the use of a modular structure used to house it. Tiffanie has also volunteered with DC’s School Building Week Program as a mentor to 6th grade students at Charles Hart Middle School, SE DC, where she helped students gain an understanding of sustainable design practices that would be beneficial to the school they were designing and also to create presentation boards for the competition.

In her spare time Tiffanie enjoys taking in the sites of the city, whether it be to sketch, photograph, or just admire; music, playing concert violin and flute; and graphics, web design and photo editing and general arts & crafts. She is also part owner of Embodi Boutique, a contemporary clothing boutique for plus size women and someday hopes to become an advocate for teen girls through fashion and style identity.
