Life-Long Learner: I have a Bachelor's Degree from Tarleton State University in Engineering Technology and Industrial Occupations. I also have an Associate's Degree in Architectural Drafting & Design from Texas State Technical College and attended Baylor University for Interior Design. I obtained my Teacher Certification through McLennan Community College in Trades & Industries.
Educator: Currently, I am teaching Engineering & Technology and coaching Robotics Teams at Harmony Science Academy and I teach the AutoDesk & Adobe Suites at ITT Tech. I was both an Architecture & Construction Teacher and Drill Team Director at University High School in Waco ISD. I also taught Art to middle school students during an after school program through Communities In Schools.
Drafter: I spent 3 years drafting for Central Texas Iron Works using Computer Aided Drafting and Drawing software programs. We worked on steel projects for companies like Shell, Exxon, and other oil businesses. I enjoyed my time at this company and appreciate the experience I gained working there. I'm proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, 3DS Max and also SDS2.
Event Planner: I have chaired our local Relay for Life here in Waco for 2 years. We brought in approximately 5000 people each year and raised between $175-215,000 each year. For the past 5 years, in memory of my sister, Amanda Cortez, who we lost to cancer, I chair a separate fundraising event for the American Cancer Society that brings in at least $5-7,000. I have skills in putting together successful fundraising and marketing events. I enjoy both sides of the planning and directing of events. I have experience with weddings and parties of all sorts.
Designer: In my freetime I enjoy designing for the various groups I work with. With my computer-aided drawing knowledge I enjoy designing t-shirts, invitations, photo editing and/or drawing for various projects I take on. I also have Interior Design (3 years at Baylor University) and floral design experience. I'm proficient with both the AutoDesk & the Adobe Suites.
