Tim Fontaine

My name is Tim Fontaine and I was born in Center, Shelby County, Texas on November 22, 1938 to Thomas Jefferson and Lanie Joel Fontaine. My father worked for Magnolia Pipeline Company and when I was 12 years of age the company moved us to a crude oil pumping station about 17 miles out of Conway, Arkansas. I attended Vilonia High School in Vilonia, Arkansas and graduated in May 1957. Then I attended Texas A&M; University where I earned a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science in Fishery Biology and Veterniary Microbiology. After graduation I obtained a job with the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admisistration, National Marine Fisheries Service at the Galveston Laboratory, Galveston, Texas. After completing 42 years of federal service I retired obtaining the rank of GS-14, Division Chief of the Protected Species Division. I have three grown sons and eight grandchildren with my wife Helen ("Jeannie") Lynn Fontaine. I enjoy playing the guitar, banjo, and writing songs. Football is my second name and I am a fan of the Texas Aggies and the Houston Texans. My wife and I enjoy traveling around Texas and visiting historical monuments and natural wonders.
