Tim Healy
Stratham
I am a proud new father to my beautiful daughter Violet Rae. Professionally I have a diverse background, but have always had a passion for the guild arts. I spent over three years as a professional stonemason. I have facilitated the design and construction of retaining walls, free standing dry lay walls, 4-6" veneer, stone patios, animal housing, bridgework, and several custom designs. The erudite experiences of layout, hand tools, and heavy equipment including excavators, backhoes, skid steer, and a forklift became of great value to me as a mason and timber wright.
While I was working full time as a stonemason, I was also in the process of earning an Associate's in Science at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, CT. Here I rekindled my interest American history and sustainability. I graduated Magna Cum Laude while also earning a certificate in Sustainable Landscape Ecology.
I own and operate Live Free Farm, a small farm in Stratham, NH. Here we grow and sell vegetables. We also employ two friendly goats to help clear brush as well as fertilize the soil. We are a new farm and look forward to finding our niche in the strong local food community on the seacoast of NH.
I have successfully completed both beginner and advanced programs at the Fox Maple School of Timber Framing. After the first day, I was hooked on this traditional craft. Since then it has been my goal to incorporate this fine craft of being a timber wright into my life as much as possible.
I began by learning how to hew beams. I began selling hand hewn mantels at first. I am now hewing the timbers for a workshop that I designed. The timbers were all harvested locally within 15 miles of where the workshop will be built. It will be built on a dry lay stone foundation.
Timber framing is inherently sustainable. The structures themselves will last a long time on their own however It is the fine craftsmanship that will earn the respect of posterity and therefore keep a structure standing for generations.
