I am a freshman at the University of Georgia. I was born in Atlanta on June 29, 1994, and grew up in Cobb County. When I think about my life and what best describes me, two words come to mind: music and videos. It all started back in third grade, when I first picked up a guitar at school. Although I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, I knew that I loved music. In sixth grade I joined concert band and started playing the alto saxophone, and even though my playing sounded like a wounded animal at first, I kept on practicing and trying because I loved music.
I started marching band in seventh grade, and it has always been the music that has kept me going. Through the friendships I made in band I started recording videos and posting them online. Not only did I want to make videos, but I also wanted to write music for them. My friends and I started recording videos and posting them online, and a few months later I received my first check from YouTube for $100 because of the views that my videos had received. My love for music continued all through high school, as I was a section leader for my band and started my own saxophone quartet. I started freelancing videos, and though that I learned about business and communicating with people. One summer I even edited several DVD videos for a karate studio out in California. This is what led me to want to be a business major at UGA.
If you asked any of my friends about me, I would probably be described as “the computer guy.” Two years ago, I tied my love for music and videos together and spent about 200 hours programming a Christmas light show on the front of my house. I even ended up with a link on Vanilla Ice’s blog because I programmed one of his songs for fun. Music is what motivates me to work, and once I received my acceptance into the UGA Redcoat marching band last spring, I could not wait to come here this fall. Just as in high school, I am making videos with my friends in band here. I continue to enjoy me time as a student at the University of Georgia, and continueing with my studies.
