Tim Hay-Edie

Born in Brazil, brought up in Portugal, educated in UK and US, I have lived in Hong Kong since 1996.

In 1999 I started up a software development business in Hong Kong - Pilot Simple Software. It started out as software, but pretty soon morphed into websites and web applications. I have a team of 6 in Hong Kong and an outsource team of 10 in Chennai, India.

I am pretty active in the web community in Hong Kong. I sit on the IT Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce and speak at Britcham and other events. Topics range from improving web usability, to making your website your best salesman, and social media integration.

With the British Chamber I helped set up the Britcham Angel Investment Programme (sponsored by Baker Tilly). This has been running since 2008. We have helped a long list of start up companies by reviewing their business plans and giving constructive feedback. The best candidates get to present to angels at a special breakfast at the Hong Kong Club. In 2011 we launched an associated website where entrepreneurs can match with angels. This is not a fee driven service - we volunteer!

I am chairman of the Typhoons RFC. I have been playing rugby most of my life and now my playing usefulness is coming to an end I have moved into management! Our first team plays in the Hong Kong community league, championship division. In 2011 we rolled out a second team (Plan B).

I am married with 3 children.
