A North Carolina native, Tim Kirkman lives in Los Angeles, where he is a screenwriter and director. He has directed five feature films — the Emmy, Independent Spirit, Gothan and GLAAD-nominated documentary Dear Jesse (1998); an adaptation of David Drake's solo play The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me (2000); Loggerheads (2005), which he also wrote and made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival; 2nd Serve (2012), a comedy written by James Markert; and Lazy Eye (2016). He has taught at Hunter College in New York City, the University of Southern California, and Vermont College of Fine Arts. He is represented by Robin Budd at Viewfinder Management.
