Tim Oldread
A native of Plainville (yes, Plainville), Massachusetts, I received my undergraduate degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Penn State University...and I'm still an incredibly proud alumni. This WFS degree led me into an internship at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge and full-time employment with SeaWorld Orlando's Education Department.
After about 3 1/2 years at SeaWorld, I moved on to become the Public Programs Coordinator at Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, Florida. I then moved into the Director position for the Center for School and Public Programs. Most recently, I was the Community Education Manager for Disney's Animals, Science and Environment Line of Business, based at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
I have traveled throughout New England; "birded" up and down the Rio Grande Valley of Texas; studied in Mexico; co-lead ten-day excursions to Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands; and taught throughout the Everglades and Florida Keys. I also have a graduate certificate in informal science and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, both from the University of South Florida. I have been active in the Florida Marine Science Educators Association (FMSEA), serving as Southwest Regional Director and chairing a number of annual conference committees. I have presented at local and national conferences, am First Aid/CPR/AED certified, and am proficient with social media.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, eating, exercising, and reading Sports Illustrated.
