I graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Biology and a minor in Biochemistry. I conducted extensive research in the field of Comparative Immunology and generated publications and presentations on the immune system of rainbow trout and the development of monoclonal antibodies. I also completed a honors thesis which allowed me to graduate with the distinction of Commonwealth Scholar. After earning my undergraduate degree, I matriculated into The University of Massachusetts Medical School where I expect to graduate as a Doctor of Medicine in June of 2016.

Throughout medical school I have had the pleasure of leading many organizations and initiatives. I have been intimately involved with the UMass Learning Communities, acting as both Chairman of the Tatnuck Learning Community and as a member of the Learning Communities Executive Board. Through these experiences, I have been able to hone my management skills and demonstrate myself as a leader among my peers.

For residency training, I am applying in the field of Emergency Medicine. My desire to become an Emergency Medicine physician stems from my time serving as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician. I have been serving as an active member of the Swansea Fire Department since March of 2006 where I graduated from the Massachusetts Fire Academy and became nationally certified at the level of Firefighter I/II. I have participated in many fire and rescue operations over the years. I know that the successes that I have had with the organizations that I have been involved with will help me to thrive in Emergency Medicine.
