Timothy Cotton

Hi, I’m Timothy. I’m a student living in Athens, Georgia. I am a fan of running, sports, and music but more specifically a fan of running. This new found love, interest or whatever you would like to call is just what it sounds like. This journey started my senior year of high school so it’s still relatively new. After I stopped playing football I needed another way to stay healthy and in shape, and cross country just happened to be at the same time as football so it filled that void that football occupied. Going into the season I had no desire to take it seriously so I went through the motions. When the first meet came my competiveness kicked in and I put my best foot forward and in the end I was one of the top finishers for my team. This sparked something inside me that even today is hard to explain and I continued to grow fonder of the sports practice after practice and meet after meet. Running cross country gave me a sense of freedom and comradery that I didn’t get from playing other sports at my school. This was the first time in a long time that I actually had fun playing a sport for my school and for that I am grateful for what it has taught me. From the mental aspects to the forging of new friendships I will always have love for cross country and for the people that partake in this sport.
