My initial training as a luthier was with Lisbeth Nelson Butler starting in 2001. I've worked mostly with orchestral string instruments in the last 15 years, and began making violins under the tutelage of Marilyn Wallin in 2013.
In addition to my time at the bench I have managed a small string department, and turned around a failing string shop to more than double revenue in 3 years. Profit's grew by over 400% in the 4 1/2 years that I managed the shop.
In addition to my fine woodworking skills I have professional sales training, excellent customer service skills, and business acumen. Ever the innovator I am always coming up with a new method, jig, or invention to solve common problems. They don't always come to fruition given the limitations of my workshop, but I find the puzzle of functional and aesthetic design to be fascinating.
