Dr. Timothy "TJ" Leonard is a Connecticut-based educator who has focused on building students’ high-level thinking skills throughout his career. Timothy Leonard currently serves as an assistant professor of academic literacy and linguistics at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. In this full-time position, Dr. Timothy Leonard teaches courses that include “Introduction to Critical Thinking,” and “Critical Thinking for ESL.”
TJ Leonard is also the founder of ConnArtists Concerts and works with a number of Connecticut venues, including The Silo in New Milford and the Woodbury Brewing Company, to curate unique live music events. Since the start of the pandemic, he has worked to promote virtual shows on Zoom that recreate a live environment. He has also facilitated summer outdoor shows with appropriate social distancing measures in place, which allowed people to safely enjoy an in-person music experience.
Dr. Leonard’s background includes a past position with Sacred Heart University in Fairfield as Adjunct Instructor of Education, and he has played a vital role in the Connecticut Literacy Specialist Program. He has also published works in the Journal of Education and Social Development and the International Journal of Innovative Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
