A member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, Tim Penix turned his professional focus to the health care field after retiring from a 23-year career in the military. He spent over six years in the Marines and 16 years in the Army, where he gained valuable experience in leading and working with teams. Tim Penix received numerous awards for outstanding and meritorious service.

He now focuses on helping fellow veterans make healthy lifestyle choices. Currently serving as a health coach for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Tim Penix completed his studies in integrative medicine health coaching at Duke University. He also studied health behavior change using motivational interviewing techniques through a program designed by the University of San Francisco and Duke University. In addition to his role as a health coach, Tim Penix also is one of the main instructors for the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Department of Veterans Greater Los Angeles Health Care System.

Outside of work, Mr. Penix officiates at men’s lacrosse games at the college, high school, and youth levels. Having played lacrosse himself throughout his youth and while in the military . He belongs to the Pacific Coast Lacrosse Officials Association. He has also coached boys lacrosse, basketball and football. Dedicated to helping others, he supports several community organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, American Heart Association, Special Olympics and several disabled veterans organizations.
