I'm an award-winning writer who's also an editor and an all around creative and engaged guy. I write about Indigenous issues, the North, politics, business, the environment, and popular culture. My work has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Up Here, Up Here Business, Canadian History, Adbusters, Alberta Views, the National Post, and The Huffington Post, among many other publications.
During the day, I'm the senior editor at Alberta Venture magazine, in Edmonton.
Creatively, I work to start conversations and make change. I'm writing a documentary on the Mackenzie River, to be produced with the Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation and Artless Media. I'm also working on a book pitch on being an only child. And I'm also working on the Edmonton Wayfinding Project, which sees me go on TV to talk about getting lost from time to time.
My knowledge is anchored by 10 years experience as a journalist, many of them in the North, and a master's degree in Canadian Studies and Indigenous Studies. Unofficially, it's because I talk to people and learn from them as a rule.
