I have been in data acquisition and analysis, management and leadership positions since I was 20 years old. At that time I qualified to supervise the mainframe computer operations center in the U.S. Navy for the Commander Oceanographic Systems Pacific, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and again in 1984 for the Commander Oceanographic Systems Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia.
From there I continued to gain education and experience in data & acoustic analysis, pattern recognition, reporting/briefing, personnel management and leadership for which I was named as the Naval Ocean Processing Facility, Ford Island, Hawaii 1989 Sailor of the Year where I also qualified in Submarines on my first (volunteer) deployment on-board the fast-attack nuclear submarine USS Queenfish, SSN-651 in Feb. 1988 and was then advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy,
After taking advantage of an early retirement opportunity from the Navy in 1994, I continued to gain experience in Helpdesk Management, customer service, computer operations/desktop support and programming (Honor Graduate at the Electronic Computer Programming Institute, Va. Beach, VA) and have earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, a Master of Science in Human Resource Management and an MBA from Chapman University while on active duty.
Since moving to Michigan in 1996, I have served with the Michigan Volunteer Defense Force, (MIVDF) as a CPT, performing duties of 1st Battalion Operations & Training Officer. Other assignments included Company Commander, Battalion Adjutant and the Brigade S-6, Director of Information Operations.
