Take the case of a simple light bulb, when it goes out, we do not assume that there is no more electricity, we have the auto mindset that its either a tripped switch or a dead bulb. Now in-order to get this changed, we need to unplug the dead/non active one to make way for the new one!

Having said that, its not always a quick dash to change this especially if it is a chandler for example, you may often leave the dead one amongst the working ones, even though it may not be as bright as before, it is not until a few more goes out that we begin to think about changing it to give better lighting

This is true of life sometimes, little things that affect our optimum performance is not attended to early enough, you simply need the push to unplug so that you can make way for a new one!
