Tinai L. James

Hailing from the sunshine state of California, Tinai James is a San Francisco native who strives to continuously use interactive child engaging activities & interpersonal savvy to positively impact healthy child and adolescent psychological development. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University in 2012. While obtaining her bachelor’s degree she conducted research exploring the relationship between divorce and children’s subsequent levels of aggression, held the position of second Vice President of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., as well as Miss Psychology of the Undergraduate Psychology Association at Clark Atlanta University and has been an active volunteer with AmeriCorps.

Tinai has previously worked as a fulltime AmeriCorps member with the Georgia Tech CEISMC’s Pathways into STEM K-12 outreach program. She was responsible for recruiting and managing 75 volunteers in support of the school’s goals and strategic initiatives, maintain volunteer, tutoring, mentoring, and performance measure data for over 50 students and developing and facilitating monthly service projects for over 500 students. She has also implemented the Georgia Technology Savvy Club for 15 fourth grade students at Centennial Place Elementary School in which students worked with blogs, Prezi, and Scratch animation.

Tinai’s initial introduction to child and adolescent development and psychology sparked during her undergraduate matriculation. As an undergrad, she volunteered 750 hours as an AmeriCorps member for Jumpstart for Children, Inc at Morehouse College. She provided 23 preschool children with one-on-one literacy development through an early childhood curriculum with a team of 9 corps member. She received intensive training and professional development in early childhood theory and practice, language and literacy development, leadership skills, and communication with families in order to implement early childhood curriculum, support family involvement, and promote skill building through in school and family involvement activities

Tinai has also interned at the North Metro GNETS Program in which she shadowed the school psychologists and performed duties such as executing the daily Individualized Education Program (IEP) for students who exhibit autistic behavior in order to provide personalized cognitive development.
