“Music is a part of our human nature; it has the power either to improve or to debase our character.” -Boethius
I believe that our musical instruments are extensions of our inner being. Communication is a huge part of our daily lives and it is not something that we should throw out the window. Whether it is done through body language or something as abstract as musical notes, communication is one of the keys to enriching our lives as humans. With that, I am all for quality music education in the Philippines.
Looking into the said country, it is full of undiscovered talents. Among these are guitarists who really have the ear for beautiful harmonies and solo arrangements of popular songs. In fact, the guitar is one of the most popular instruments in the Philippines and it really makes me happy to see people bonding together over a jamming session using this instrument as their primary harmonic tool. Seeing people sing and being brought together by music, most especially through the use of guitar, puts a huge smile on my face.
Being surrounded by music all throughout my life really showed me the wonders of its influence. I grew up in Churches and communities that would encourage creativity and thinking outside of the box in order to pursue excellence in the said field. Up until now, I'm involved in my local Church and eventually branched out to events outside of Church to pursue my love for music. While finishing my degree in AB Philosophy from ADMU, I really thought about taking music as a profession afterwards. It was a huge leap of faith on my part to jump to music as a course, but I had no regrets. I want to be able to share my joy that music brought to my life with the people I encounter.
It is my heart to be able to impart my knowledge unto the next generations so that communication via music can be maintained and kept alive.
