A former journalist, TJ Rigg is now living a life where creative writing takes up much more of his time than it ever did before.

Not to say that he wasn't already a creative writer, but working in journalism certainly made it difficult for him to devote any significant amount of time to creative writing.

As a journalist, he worked primarily in print, writing for several newspapers over the years. These include The Trojan Bluestreak (student newspaper of Andover High School), The Andover American (and later The Butler County Times Gazette when three smaller newspapers merged into one), The Sunflower (student newspaper of Wichita State University), The Gayly, The Flint Hills Media Project (a project based storytelling class at WSU) and more.

While proud of the work he did as a journalist, TJ Rigg is much happier to be away from the hustle and bustle of news and working in a less stressful (and less time-consuming) field. Of course the journalist inside of him isn't completely gone; he still likes to fact check things and the inner copy editor won't ever go away.

TJ Rigg is a frequent participant in the National Novel Writing Month challenge, better known as NaNoWriMo. He has participated (and won) the challenge seven times, and will revisit his career in news with his eighth project, which will be his reporter's memoir.
