"I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way." Growing up in the inner-city, with the added bonus of being an African-American female was no small task. Raised in East Orange, New Jersey, by a predominately matriarchal family, I was taught early on that no one is going to hand you anything; you must work to get everything that you want. The fast-paced setting in which I lived equipped me with the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment, while staying focused on my goals. At the end of my freshman year in high school my mom and I moved to North Carolina. I remained here to attend college.

I am currently a rising sophomore at North Carolina Central University. My field of study is Mass Communication with a concentration in Communication Studies. This major permits me the opportunity to explore areas such as journalism and print and broadcast media. I am also considering the addition of a minor in sociology. Upon graduation I plan to move closer to New York City and look for a job as a production assistant for a television network.

To ensure that I am living up the standards of eagle excellence I plan to use my time at NCCU to gain invaluable leadership experience through community service and campus organizations.
