Thomas Lebens

Thomas F. Lebens is a partner with Fitch, Even Tabin and Flannery, residing in the firm's San Luis Obispo, California office, PO Box 3856, San Luis Obispo, CA 93403, (805)548-1800. Mr. Lebens serves as Managing Partner for West Coast Operations at Fitch, Even, Tabin and Flannery.

Mr. Lebens received his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and served as student body president at Cal Poly. Mr. Lebens received his law degree with honors from the University of San Diego School of Law, and is presently an Adjunct Professor of Law for the University of San Diego.

Mr. Lebens is an experienced patent attorney, having served clients since 1991 in preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications, including appeals and interference practice, with a technical emphasis in the areas of analog and digital electronics; optics; control systems; communications, including cellular telephony and satellite communications and design; semiconductor fabrication; circuit design; physics; medical devices, implants and imaging; consumer electronics, including television technologies, and optical video technologies; materials and contraband detection and imagery; weaponry, including non-lethal weaponry; complex computer software technologies, including data compression and encryption, database design, intruder detection, software design tools, and internet technologies; and business methods, including software and business processes. Mr. Lebens is highly experienced in matters pertaining to intellectual property and business strategy; licensing; infringement and validity analysis; patentability, infringement and validity opinions; and copyright, both for artistic works and computer software. Mr. Lebens is also expert at counseling clients and negotiating licensing and infringement matters.
