Trent O. Jenkins

From Army Brat (a nickname given to the children of Army service members), to Airman, to Student. Although I’ve lived a short life, much has happened in my 21 years of existence. I am originally from Europe, being that my parents were stationed overseas at the time I was born. Pisa, Italy is what is slapped on my birth certificate, unfortunately I was much too young to retain any memories of being there. My parents weren’t enlisted for too much longer after I was born, but I did still end up moving around quite a few times. We have lived in Italy, Germany, Colorado, and then finally settled in Clayton County, Georgia when I was 8 with my parents, my older sister, and myself.

Not knowing what I wanted to do in school plus my developed love of travel led to me joining the Military myself. Unlike my parents and other various family members I chose to enlist into the Air Force. I served Active Duty in the U.S. Air Force for just a little over 2 years. My job title was 4Y0X1 or Dental Assistant for a general term. My time in the military was well enjoyed and I cherish the experience i was able to obtain from the service. The job dental assistant was given to me towards the end of my Basic Military Training attendance. At first I was pretty apprehensive about going into the field of dentistry, however, after getting my first taste of hands on activity in the field I quickly began to enjoy the field. There's so much that I would never have imagined existed pertaining to dentistry and the vast field drew me in and stuck. It didn’t take me too long to realize that I wanted to pursue a future in Dentistry so here I am today. I have already earned national certification to be a Dental Assistant and want to continue to climb up the chain. My next step is to become a Dental Hygienist, and then to go for graduate school in order to become a Doctor of Dental Science.
