Thom is a degreed MBA with an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering. He has extensive experience in the home building products manufacturing and product development market. Working in the plumbing, cabinetry, residential coatings, ceiling tile, windows and lock hardware industries, Thom brings solid business understanding and a natural curiousity to any task he undertakes. Thom has practical experience in operations management, product finishing, industrial ventilation, facility design and maintenance as a manufacturing engineer, manager, and business consultant.
Thom is currently a Senior Project Manager with the CertainTeed Ceilings Group of Saint Gobain. In this role, he manages large scale capital and improvement projects. Previously, he has been the Director of Strategic Technology & Regulatory Development for Masco Corporation. Working out of the corporate research & development facility, Thom mined emerging technologies searching for applications relevant to Masco's business units. Thom also worked with business units to identify emerging regulatory issues, with an eye to developing solutions that exceed or obsolete compliance requirements through product development. Thom chaired the Masco Innovation and New Development council - a collection of the senior innovation leaders across the eneterprise and oversaw the Masco Innovation Grant program, an in-house venture fund to support intelligent risk taking by Masco business units.
Thom nas been invited to speak on the subject of innovation and new product development. He has spoken at, among others, the Stage-Gate Leadership Summit, the ipCapital Group Thought Leadership Conference, The AHC Annual Affiliates Meeting and in front of numerous groups and organizations about establishing an innovation process and culture in a multi-busienss unit environment.
Thom presently serves on the Industrial Advisory Board for Mechanical Engineering at Lawrence Technological University and as a member of the Entrepreneurship and Leadership Sub-Committee fro Lawrence Tech. During his tenure, Lawrence Tech has completely reimagined the introduction of entrepreneurship skills for sophomore and junior engineering students.
Thom's creativity, love for establishing and improving business processes, and knack for learning quickly make his presence exceptionally valuable in whatever assignment he undertakes.
