We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. Poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. (Dead Poets Society) Unusual, great with kids, complex, easy does it. My meditation practice is to put on a DVD of a favorite film, and all my worries go away for 120 minutes. Here's a mini-autobiography: I retired from Public School Administration in 2000. I have two adult children, one daughter-in-law, a grandson, and a Maine Coon cat. I have always had my weddings on years ending in five: 1965, 1975, and 2005. Major events have happened to me on years ending in zero: 1970, the birth of my son; 1980, I and my family move to Santa Cruz "the real surf city" California; 1990, a decade of cancer begins; 2000, I retire and my wife of 25 years dies of breast cancer; 2007 my grandson, Max is born; 2010, my daughter moves to New York City, my son turns 40, and I am a single man again. May, 2012, I move to Los Angeles. July my son and his family move to Albany; There are no more Todds in Santa Cruz. That's the story.
