Rev. Toby D. Sanders is the Founding Pastor and Bible Teacher at Beloved Community - a loving and progressive community of faith in Trenton, NJ. He is also an Academic Advisor and Lead Instructor at NJ-STEP (Scholarship Transformative Education in Prison) an association of higher education institutions in New Jersey that works in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Corrections and State Parole Board, to provide higher education courses for all students under the custody of the State of New Jersey while they are incarcerated, and assist in the transition to college life upon their release into the community. A grandfather, father, son, lover, activist and friend - Toby served as President of Trenton Board of Education (2010-2013) and is a member of the Board of Directors of At the Well Women Conferences, Inc. - a 501 (c)(3) organization founded in 2009 as a means to empower women, particularly women of color, who often are on the bottom of the socio-economic ladder. Programs include At the Well Leadership Conferences for both minority teen girls and women and At the Well Young Women’s Leadership Academy for minority teen girls only. Toby is also a dynamic and profound preacher, teacher, writer and lecturer.
